Employers are awarded for supporting reserves
A number of employers from Nottinghamshire have been honoured for supporting the Armed Forces Reserves.
Representatives from Nottinghamshire County Council, FM Solutions, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and Willsons Group Services Printers attended an event in London yesterday (Monday 15 April), that was jointly sponsored by the East Midlands Reserves and Cadets Association (RFCA) and Supporting Britain’s Reservists and Employers (SaBRE), that was designed to say thank you for supporting and employing members of the Reserve Forces.
Each of the organisations received a certificate in recognition of their commitment to support the Reserve Forces that was jointly signed by the Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, and the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Sir Nicholas Houghton.
The presentation of certificates took place at The Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, London.
John Wilson, Regional SaBRE Campaign Director, said: “The visit to London was to say a big thank you to employers who have pledged their dedication to support employees who in their spare time train as members of the Reserve Forces. Enhancing the relationship between employers and reservists has a number of benefits including appreciating the training that individuals receive through their voluntary roles and the transferable skills that they can bring to their civilian careers. The day was a huge success and I would like to thank everyone who attended.”
Mark Willson, Managing Director at Willsons Printers in Newark, said: “In my experience of employing Reservists they have gained a lot of confidence through their roles in the Armed Forces and have transferred this learning to their civilian roles too. They are great team players as well as being motivated individuals. I’d happily employ other Reservists again in the future.”
